”Singin’ In The Rain” // "Deszczowa Piosenka"
”Singin’ In The Rain” at Teatr Roma is a staging of one of the most popular musical comedy films.
Created in 1952, the film is one of the all-time classics, thanks to the wonderful Gene Kelly as well as great swing music and such songs as (apart from the title “Singing in the Rain”) “Beautiful Girl” and ”ou Are My Lucky Star”.
The action takes place in Hollywood film-maker circles of the 1920s - a really critical period for the business – the transition from silent films to ”talkies”. The main character, Don Lockwood, is a popular film star, famous celebrity, worshipped by women. Young, handsome, energetic and rich – a true Hollywood beau. He is accompanied on screen by a beautiful and sexy star, Lina Lamont, whose rapaciousness he delicately tries to escape. His feelings go to a modest aspiring actress, Kathy Selden, who dreams of a career on theatre stages. The main character's best friend and collaborator is Cosmo Brown, a joyful and musically-gifted one. We follow the lot of these four on a film set, with one of the main threads being the rivalry between the two ladies and the romance of the film star with the débutante.
Audiences around the world have been in love with ”Singin' in the Rain” for over fifty years now, appreciating the situational comedy taking place at a film set and engaging private lives of the characters.
