Natural and artificial, alive and dead, orderly and random. These are just a few of opposite features characteristic for works of Adam Jastrzębski collected at the exhibition named “Trucizna” (Poison). They all represent crucial terms distinguishing between what is human and within human realm and what is inhuman and controlled by elements.

Civilizational, scientific and artistic development reached the place, where this distinction is more and more difficult to be determined. People create devices, structures and systems which get out of control, people interfere with natural environment forming new ecosystems, at the same time being totally aware of not being capable to fully manage it and being not able to stop from going forward. “Poison” talks about how even small things in laboratory conditions are not entirely under control, about how natural processes shape totally artificial reality and about how much people's understanding of the world is being tested today. Ultimately, as Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek says – nature does not exist.
